Suno - Part 1

Suno - Part 1

I live in a small town in northern Texas that few people have ever heard of. Farmersville is a tiny town that you'll blink and miss. However, it is home to the Farmersville Christmas Parade. People come from all over the are to watch and participate.

A friend of ours has a float in the parade every year. In 2024, Alisha was able to get in on the action. This last year, I joined her.

Before the parade, however, there was a lot of work to be done. While sitting around with our friends, it was suggested that we should find a song to play from the float. The previous year, they used "Fancy Like Christmas" and somehow they still won best float!

As the conversation progressed I remembered using an AI tool to create songs some time before. I looked it up and found it, Suno. I quickly downloaded the app and started playing around with it to see what we could do. After a few minutes, I had a sample song that I played for everyone. Their mouths hung open, then they laughed. "Did you just make that song?"

"Yep, I did. And it was really easy to do."

As we went back and forth, I opened up ChatGPT and gave it a prompt to write a song about the Farmersville Christmas Parade, including the street names, and the names of the people that would be involved in our float. I played around with the lyrics and different versions of the song. Our friend asked if it could be like "Celebration." So, I asked ChatGPT to write a Sumo prompt for a song to make it sound the same. Seconds later, the final song was born. I played it for everyone, and they loved it.

The parade itself was a blast. I wore an LED suit jacket and danced to the song being played over and over again. I was already hearing the song in my dreams, and this didn't improve the situation at all.

The result? Amazing. As people lined the streets, the song blasted from the rather excessive speakers on the float. People danced along to a song they didn't know, but then they heard the lyrics and how it mentioned their town. The look of recognition on people's faces was fantastic.

After the parade, I made sure that the song was made available for anyone to hear. I'll go more into those details in part two, but for now, I'll leave you with a way to listen to the song here, or you can simply say, "Alexa, play Farmersville Christmas Parade."
